Cookies & local storage
SpecEagle uses cookies in three categories: strictly necessary first-party cookies for the site to work, a single first-party preference for your consent choice, and — only if you accept them — third-party advertising cookies set by Google AdSense and our other advertising partners.
auth — set only when you sign in. Holds a signed session token. Expires after 30 days of inactivity.
lang — your selected language. Expires after 1 year.
theme — light or dark preference. Expires after 1 year.
consent — your advertising-cookies choice (granted or denied). Set the moment you click a banner button. Expires after 6 months, after which we re-ask.
saved-phones — the list of phones you have bookmarked. Stored only in your browser. Cleared when you sign out.
Google AdSense — once we are approved for the programme, AdSense uses cookies to serve ads on SpecEagle. Google's use of the DART cookie enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this and other sites on the Internet. Full vendor list, retention and lawful bases are documented at policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
IAB Transparency & Consent Framework partners — the small number of additional demand partners we run alongside AdSense are listed in the consent banner under "Partners". Their cookies are set only after you grant consent and are honoured via TCF v2.2 signals.
You can withdraw or change your consent at any time by clearing the consent cookie (Settings → "Cookie preferences" in the footer) or by visiting https://www.google.com/settings/ads to opt out of Google personalised advertising specifically. Disabling advertising cookies in your browser does not disable SpecEagle — you will still see non-personalised ads.
No Google Analytics, no Hotjar, no Meta Pixel. Our analytics endpoint sees only a coarse pageview count and the URL — no cookie required, no IP retained beyond 24 hours.
