Privacy policy
SpecEagle reads phone spec sheets, not your inbox. This policy explains exactly what we collect, why, where it lives, and how to take it back.
Account data — only if you sign in. Email and a hashed password are all we require. Names and avatars are optional and you can leave them blank.
Usage telemetry — coarse-grained pageview counts (which comparison pages get hit, which languages are most-used) via a single first-party analytics endpoint. We do not load Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or any of their cousins.
Affiliate referrer — when you click through to a retailer, we record the destination and a 30-day session ID so we can attribute commission. We never sell or share that data.
SpecEagle displays third-party advertising to fund free phone-spec content. Once we are approved for the programme, programmatic ads on this site are served by Google AdSense and a small number of vetted demand partners.
Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on SpecEagle. Google's use of the DART cookie enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this and other sites on the Internet.
Users may opt out of personalised advertising at any time by visiting Google's Ads Settings at https://www.google.com/settings/ads or the industry opt-out at https://www.aboutads.info/choices. You may also disable third-party cookies in your browser; SpecEagle will continue to work normally with non-personalised ads.
For European Economic Area, UK and Swiss visitors we display a consent banner before any advertising cookies are written. Your selection is stored as a first-party preference (no third-party cookies) and is honoured by all advertising partners we work with via the IAB Transparency & Consent Framework.
We do not fingerprint your browser, harvest your contact list, or build behavioral profiles ourselves. We do not enrich your account with data purchased from third parties. We do not track you across other sites with first-party cookies.

Account data sits in encrypted Postgres clusters in Frankfurt (EU) and Ashburn (US-East). Telemetry sits in a separate analytics database in the same regions, retained for 90 days then aggregated. Affiliate logs are retained for 18 months for accounting.
You can export, correct, or delete your data at any time from Account → Privacy. Deletion is permanent; we keep no shadow copies. Requests are typically completed within an hour and always within 30 days.
